Though Buick might feel old-school to many, they sure do know how much fun it can be to drop your top and let your hair blow in the wind.
The Buick Cascada, known as the Opel Cascada throughout the European region, is the company’s solution to fun in the sun.
The Launch of the Buick Cascada
The Buick Cascada was first launched in Europe under the Opel brand from General Motors. This car first hit the European market back in 2012 as the very first convertible since the Riviera back in 1999. The Cascada was eventually launched under the Buick name in America in 2016 after debuting at the North American International Auto Show.
Life Wide Open – The Features of the Buick Cascada
The 2019 Buick Cascada comes with a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 200 horsepower. That engine is paired with front-wheel-drive, as well as a six-speed automatic transmission. Unlike you might expect, the suspension isn’t tuned for high-speed canyon driving, but rather laid-back boulevard riding.
The Buick Cascada is a convertible with a drop-top time of 17 seconds. On the inside, you get a 7” infotainment touchscreen system with 4G LTE and onboard Wi-Fi, power-adjustable heated seats, leather upholstery, and two-zone automatic climate control. There are a few basic driver-assistance features on top trim models as well.
A Single Generation of the Buick Cascada (2013-2019)
The Buick Cascada has only been around for one generation and has only been available in the United States as of 2016. It came out in 2012 under the Opel brand in Europe, in 2015 under the Holden brand in Australia, and in 2015 under the Vauxhall brand in the U.K.
The Buick Cascada In the News
In recent and unfortunate Buick news, the Buick Cascada will be discontinued for the 2020 year. The company said they’re not cutting the car due to poor sales performance, but rather that the car had reached the end of the lifecycle that they had planned for it.
Celebrity Endorsements of the Buick Cascada
Surprisingly enough, the Cascada has found its way into the hands of quite a few celebrities. Actress Ellie Kemper can be seen driving around her Cascada in a recent Buick ad. Tracy Anderson can also be seen riding around in her Cascada.
Best Buick Cascada Groups
The Cascada Club is a large online forum website that is dedicated to Cascada owners and enthusiasts. The club is home to thousands of members with a variety of forums on different topics that pertain to the convertible.
The Buick Cascada – Let The Wind Blow
Though we are sad to see the Buick Cascada go in 2020, we are glad that it lived a good life while it was here. Buick had never been known for creating fun and exciting automobiles until the Cascada rolled around, so truly, the car’s larger purpose was to show the world that Buick was transforming itself as a modern luxury car brand. The Cascada may have run its course on this Earth, though we can only be excited about the future of Buick and what they will bring to the table next.
