Buick LaCrosse

Though the essence of luxury isn’t present upon the first whiff in every Buick vehicle, the LaCrosse offers total luxury with an abundance of high-quality features.

With a lush design and a comfortable ride, the Buick LaCrosse helped to revolutionize the Buick car brand back in 2005. Over a decade later and the LaCrosse is still kicking strong.

The Beginnings of the Buick LaCrosse

The Buick LaCrosse entered the market back in 2005 as the mid-size sedan to replace the Regal and Century. The LaCrosse name came from a concept car that Buick showed back in 2000.

Dipped In Luxury – Technology and Innovations of the Buick LaCrosse

The 2019 Buick LaCrosse allows drivers to choose between a V-6 engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission or a 2.5L four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain is electric-assisted to help deliver better fuel economy and smooth ride.

In terms of interior, the LaCrosse delivers exactly what you’d expect from a modern Buick. You get power-adjustable seats and heated/cooled seats on the Essence trim. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, as well as the 8.0” full-color touchscreen with Buick’s IntelliLink design.

Three Generations of the Buick LaCrosse

  • First Generation Buick LaCrosse (2005-2009)

The first-generation LaCrosse was built on a W-body and was available with a 3.8L V-6 engine or a 3.6L V-6 engine. In 2008, the car received a small facelift on the front end, as well as received a few upgraded interior features such as XM Satellite Radio and Dual-Zone Climate Control.

  • Second Generation Buick LaCrosse (2010-2016)

The second-generation LaCrosse utilized a longer wheelbase and a 2.4L Ecotec four-cylinder engine instead of the V-6. It also incorporated front suspension, and in 2012, a hybrid model was added to the lineup.

  • Third Generation Buick LaCrosse (2017-2019)

By the third generation, the LaCrosse reduced its weight by about 300lbs, though it was longer and wider. It came with an array of new safety and technological features. In 2018, nine-speed automatic transmission became optional with the V-6.

The Buick LaCrosse In the News

In recent and unfortunate Buick news, the LaCrosse will not be coming back in 2020. The company said that this is due to larger cars falling out of favor.

Celebrity Endorsements of the Buick LaCrosse

A large car could only be fit for a large celebrity. That’s why it isn’t too surprising to see Shaq riding around in his Buick LaCrosse in their celebrity-driven adverts.

Best Buick LaCrosse Groups

There is no better place for LaCrosse owners and enthusiasts to talk and share information than the Buick Forum.

The Buick LaCrosse – The Last Of The Large Cars

Though we’re sad to see the LaCrosse get cut from the long line of Buick automobiles, it is safe to say that the time has come. Buick is right in saying that large cars aren’t the topic of discussion any more, as more and more car buyers are seeking out sleeker, eco-friendly sedans and crossover vehicles. With that said, the LaCrosse lived a wonderful life and we can’t wait to see what the future of Buick entails.
