The Ford Fusion Energi is a plug-in hybrid model of the Ford Fusion, and at one point, was the first Ford car in the United States that was able to run short distances with nothing but electric power. Now it has grown into one of the most popular cars in Ford’s long lineup.

The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi uses a standard 2.0L iVCT Atkinson-Cycle I-4 Hybrid Engine that is paired with a high-quality electric motor. The car uses eCVT automatic transmission and a Lithium-Ion battery, as well as a 120V Convenience Charge Cord to plug in. 

The car comes complete with Standard Co-Pilot360, which is Ford’s driver-assistance package that includes a lane-keeping system, a rear view camera, pre-collision assist, and auto high beam headlamps. The SmartGauge EcoGuide helps to provide real-time information so that you can more efficiently drive your Fusion and have all the tools you need to navigate.

Beyond that, the Ford Fusion Energi comes with all of your standard Ford Fusion features, such as leather seating and a Ford Sync system that is compatible with both iPhone and Android devices. The leather seating is an incredibly appealing feature if you are worried about cleaning your car. It can be cleaned with just a wipe-down, opposed to fabric, where dirt and grime is more likely to sink in. it is truly built for comfort and convenience.

A Short Timeline of the Ford Fusion Energi

  • First Generation Ford Fusion Energi (2013-2015)

The first-generation Ford Fusion Energi had an EPA all-electric range that spanned 20 miles, though a 550-mile range with a full battery and a full tank. In 2014, heated steering wheels and inflatable rear seat belts were added on.

  • Second Generation Ford Fusion Energi (2016-Present)

By 2017, the Ford Fusion Energi range had increased to 22 miles, and a 610-mile range with a full battery and a full tank. The Energi was also condensed into three different trim levels with a brand new Co-Pilot360 package for total driver-assistance. By 2017, a Sync3 Infotainment System was also added onto the car.

In recent Ford news, the 2019 Ford Fusion Energi was just recently recalled thanks to an exposed high-voltage fuse. Ford released a statement saying 2,100 of their vehicles were affected by this problem. The fuse is present behind a small gap in the access panel that could result in electrification if touched.
